*LANSING, Mich. ?* Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced the following appointments to the Michigan Board of Counseling, Crime Victim Services Commission, Michigan Early-Stage Venture Investment Corporation Board of Directors, Governor?s Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect, Michigan Board of Physical Therapy, State Plumbing Board, Michigan Board of Nursing Home Administrators, and Ski Area Safety Advisory Board.?

?
Robin Chosa, of Baraga, is the owner of Rez Robbins LLC where he operates a food vending business that services pow wows and local festivals. He is also an operations manager for the Ford Center. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Michigan Technological University. Mr. Chosa is appointed to represent the general public for a term commencing October 27, 2022, and expiring June 13, 2025. He succeeds Charles Corley whose term expired June 30, 2022.?

The Michigan Board of Counseling was enacted as part of the Public Health Code to license counselors who render to individuals, groups, families, organizations, or the general public a service involving the application of clinical counseling principles, methods, or procedures in an educational, business, health, private practice, or human services setting. The Public Health Code mandates certain responsibilities and duties for a health professional licensing board including promoting and protecting the public's health, safety, and welfare.????????

*Crime Victim Services Commission*?
?
Robin Hornbuckle, of Detroit, is the first vice president of Wayne County Deputy Sheriff?s Association and a police officer with the Wayne County Sheriffs? Department. She attended the Wayne County Sheriff?s? Police Academy.? Ms. Hornbuckle is reappointed to represent peace officers for a term commencing October 27, 2022, and expiring September 27, 2025. The Governor has designated Ms. Hornbuckle to serve as Chair of the Commission.??

The Crime Victim Services Commission provides reimbursement expenses on innocent crime victims who suffer a physical injury. The Commission is the state agency charged with overseeing a wide range of funding and services for victims of crime. Its goal is to promote services and supports that protect and enhance the health, safety, dignity, and rights of victims of crime across the state of Michigan.????

*Michigan Early Stage Venture Investment Corporation Board of Directors*?

Jeffrey Rinvelt, of Ann Arbor, is the principal with Renaissance Venture Capital Fund and serves as chairperson of the Michigan Venture Capital Association Executive Committee. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from Western Michigan University. Mr. Rinvelt is reappointed to represent a statewide organization with members of which represent more than 50% of the venture capital companies in this state and promoting venture capital investing. He will serve for a term commencing October 27, 2022, and expiring June 13, 2025.?

Brandon Way, of DeWitt, is the managing director and portfolio manager for Daiwa Capital Markets America. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Chicago. Mr. Way is appointed to fill a vacancy representing the general public for a term commencing October 27, 2022, and expiring June 13, 2024.?

The Michigan Early Stage Venture Investment Corporation Board of Directors works to promote a healthy economic climate by fostering job creation, retention, and expansion through the promotion of investment in venture capital businesses specializing in early stage and seed investments. The Venture Michigan Fund invests only in venture capital companies that have a significant presence in Michigan and focuses on companies that will invest in Michigan-based, start-up companies that are engaged in research, technology, and new product development.?

Sherry Saggers, Ed.D., of Flat Rock, is the dean of the physical therapist assistant program at Wayne County Community College. She earned her Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership from Northcentral University, Master of Science in Higher Education from Kaplan University, and Bachelor of Science in Health Service Administration from Davenport University. Dr. Saggers is appointed to represent physical therapy assistants for a term commencing October 27, 2022, and expiring December 31, 2022. She succeeds Morgan Kennedy who resigned.?

The Michigan Board of Physical Therapy works with the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs to oversee the licensing of physical therapists in this state and ascertains the minimal entry level competency of health practitioners. The Public Health Code mandates certain responsibilities and duties for a health professional licensing board. Underlying all duties is the responsibility of the board to promote and protect the public's health, safety, and welfare.?

Paul Kurtzhals, of Wolverine Lake, is a licensed master plumber and project manager at Conti Corporation. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Alma and a graduate certificate in hazardous waste control from Wayne State University.?Mr. Kurtzhals is reappointed to represent licensed master plumbers securing permits for a term commencing October 27, 2022, and expiring July 30, 2025.?

The State Plumbing Board?s duties include making recommendations for plumbing code rules, licensing plumbers, and making all orders, rules, and regulations necessary for the enforcement of the provisions of the act.?

*Michigan Board of Nursing Home Administrators*?

Kathy Russell, of Portland, is the executive director of the Chelsea Retirement Community. She is a licensed nursing home administrator and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Walden University. Mrs. Russell is appointed to represent nursing home administrators for a term commencing October 27, 2022, and expiring June 30, 2026. She succeeds Paul Barber whose term expired June 30, 2022.??

The Michigan Board of Nursing Home Administrators was created to license nursing home administrators who plan, organize, direct, and control the total operation of nursing homes on behalf of the governing board or owner of a nursing home. The Board promotes and protects the public?s health, safety, and welfare by ascertaining minimal entry-level competency of nursing home administrators.???

Timothy Lodge, of Traverse City, is the city engineer for Traverse City. He is also a volunteer ski patroller and a licensed ski instructor and coach. He holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Michigan Technological University. Mr. Lodge is appointed to represent a public member from the Lower Peninsula with ski experience for a term commencing October 27, 2022, and expiring June 8, 2026. He succeeds Jeff Cranson whose term expired June 8, 2022.??

Robert Meyers, of Marquette, is a volunteer ski patroller and the retired supervisor of hydros for the Upper Peninsula Power Co. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University and has been recognized by the National Ski Patrol Association Hall of Fame. Mr. Meyers is appointed to represent a public member from the Upper Peninsula with ski experience for a term commencing October 27, 2022, and expiring June 8, 2026. He succeeds Matthew Torreano whose term expired June 8, 2022.?

The Michigan Ski Area Safety Board was created to license and regulate ski areas and ski lifts in Michigan. The Board works with the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs to oversee the operation of ski areas, surface and chair lifts, and rope tows.?

Lynda McGhee, of St. Clair Shores, is the co-executive director of Michigan Children?s Law Center and the state coordinator for the National Association of Children?s Counsel. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctor degree from the Wayne State University Law School. Ms. McGhee is appointed to fill a vacancy representing attorneys for children for a term commencing October 27, 2022, and expiring December 31, 2024.??

Patricia Sabin, of Grand Rapids, is the president for Michigan CASA. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nonprofit and Public Administration from Grand Valley State University. Mrs. Sabin is appointed to fill a vacancy representing court appointed special advocates for a term commencing October 27, 2022, and expiring December 31, 2024.??

Nichole Smithson, of Grand Blanc, is a private practice attorney who practices in child neglect proceedings and juvenile delinquency matters. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Michigan State University College of Law, Master of Arts in Women?s Studies from Eastern Michigan University, and Bachelor of Arts in Multicultural and Gender Studies from California State University. Ms. Smithson is appointed to fill a vacancy representing defense attorneys or public defenders for child abuse cases for a term commencing October 27, 2022, and expiring December 31, 2023.?

The Governor's Task Force is a multidisciplinary task force from across the State of Michigan driven to improve the handling of Child Abuse and Neglect cases. The Task Force is charged with the review and evaluation of state investigative, administrative, and both civil and criminal judicial handling of cases of child abuse and neglect, and the making of policy and training recommendations.?
