As we approach Veterans Day, we are delighted to express our appreciation of the countless military service members who have made selfless contributions towards protecting our country. The Macomb County Board of Commissioners has the utmost respect and admiration for those who have served and is proud to recognize the county?s rich military history.
Macomb County is home to over 44,000 veterans and it is an honor to recognize those who have sacrificed their lives to ensure the freedom of others. As of 2022, Selfridge Air National Guard Base, the Michigan Air National Guard?s 127th Wing, supports more than 70 tenant units, a variety of flying operations, and a force of more than 5,000 personnel.?
Each year, the Board recognizes a veteran who has made significant contributions to our veteran community by honoring them with the Pat Daniels Macomb County Veteran of the Year Award. Submissions should include the name and contact information of the nominator, the veteran?s name and contact information, military branch and era of service along with a description describing the reason the veteran should be recognized. If possible, also include a picture of the veteran being nominated; the picture can be current or of them during their service.?
Nominations will be accepted through Nov. 3.
