John,

Our precious countryside can’t take any more dangerous experiments.

While we have a new Prime Minister in Rishi Sunak, he has taken the reins of a government that has brought us planning deregulation and an all-out attack on nature.

It's great that Sunak has reinstated the moratorium on fracking. But he still needs to uphold manifesto pledges of protecting the Green Belt, not to mention defending local planning, insulating our homes and giving farmers public money for public goods.

The reversal on fracking shows that together, we can make a difference. Will you make a donation today to help us hold the new government’s feet to the fire?

Yes, I'll support you

The first priority for the new PM is to tackle the cost-of-living crisis and the escalating energy emergency. We know fossil fuels are not the answer - instead we need a concerted drive for renewables. They are quicker to plug in, tackle the climate emergency, and are nine times cheaper [1].

Likewise, the growing housing crisis should be addressed by ensuring genuinely affordable housing is central to any new development, and funding brownfield regeneration which could provide 1.3 million new homes on previously used land [2]. The answer is not to give developers free rein on the green spaces around us and build houses that are out of reach of those who need them so much.

There’s a lot we need to add to Rishi Sunak’s to-do list, and fast.

Can you donate what you can today to help us make the case to the new government?

We'll continue to campaign for positive progress for our countryside and rural communities. It’s time the government stopped neglecting its duty to the environment and the people who need help most.

Thank you for your support.

Mark
