Hi John,

For many of us, discussions of gun violence are difficult and painful. Yet there are times when it can be an important part of a healing journey.

It is in the spirit of healing - both personally and as a community - that we hope you will join us for an online screening of When Claude Got Shot and a follow-up discussion with Claude Motley and the film’s director, Brad Lichtenstein.

There are two ways you can watch the movie:

>>>Click here to register to watch the film virtually with us on Tuesday, November 1 at 5:00 pm.

>>>Or, click here and register by Thursday, October 27 to get a link to watch the film at your convenience.

Either way you watch it, you are invited to join us for the follow-up discussion on Tuesday, November 1 at 6:45 pm.

This Emmy-winning documentary describes what happened to Claude Motley and the person who shot him. It chronicles Claude's physical recovery and, importantly, his internal struggle to find what justice and forgiveness look like in a country where Black men are disproportionately impacted by both gun violence and the incarceration system.

>> Register to watch the film with us on November 1, and you will receive a follow-up email on the day of the event with a link to the screening.

>> Register (by 10/27) to watch the movie at your convenience, and you will receive a link to the movie from the film’s producer. (The link will expire on 11/1.)

No matter how or when you watch the film, you will be invited to join us for the discussion with Claude Motley and Brad Lichtenstein at 6:45 pm on November 1!

This film exposes the physical, emotional and financial impacts gun violence has on individuals and their community, but it provides a path forward also. As Claude Motley said, "The issue can only be cured if the society as a whole recognizes and prioritizes the problem of gun violence and all its contributing factors."

Join us for this important film and discussion, and we'll take another step on that path together!

Warmly,

Deja Garner
Program Director
