Born Free is thrilled to announce we have secured places in the 2023 London Marathon and we are calling on you, our supporters, to take part in the ultimate bucket-list challenge, and join Born Free’s Run Wild team to help us Keep Wildlife in the Wild. Every mile matters!
Our team went the extra mile in the 2022 London Marathon, running with their legs and with their hearts! The vital funds they raised have supported our Year of the Lion, a year of action to save wild lions, resolve conflict with local communities, and protect lions exploited in captivity.
One of our amazing runners, Ritchi Edwards, said “I am super proud to have shared the streets of London with my fellow Run Wild team. We made noise for Born Free and all that they stand for in their Year of the Lion.
Well done Born Free, it’s an emotional feeling standing tall with you for the animals!”

Could you take on this challenge and be one of our wildlife hero’s next year? The London Marathon is one of the world’s most famous runs and is a highly rewarding and memorable experience. As well as raising vital funds for Born Free, you will travel through the streets of London past some of the most spectacular sites in the capital including Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge and the Houses of Parliament.
Will Travers added “They say that in tough times we need to go the extra mile. What an understatement! I ran the London Marathon for Born Free many years ago and I know just what a challenge it is! But it's made bearable knowing that every stride brings help to wild animals in need.
