Dear Friends,

Thank you for attending our 2022 American Courage Awards on Oct. 21. Thank you does not seem enough. On Friday, we held our first in-person American Courage Awards after two years of virtual events. It truly was a night to remember as many of us reunited to celebrate in person! Many more watched online

That night we laughed with award presenter Jean Yoon (actor, Kim’s Convenience), reflected with Deni Mineta, sang along with Paolo Montalban, and shared our appreciation to Vice President Kamala Harris for her congratulatory remarks as we celebrated honorees Senator Mazie Hirono with the American Courage Award; Kathleen Kim with the Changemaker Award; and Parkin Lee with the President’s Award. You can read more about our award honorees here.

We also owe special gratitude to our additional speakers and award presenters, Lauren and Justin Ng Lee, and our remarkable young presenters who stole the show and our hearts.

Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC introduced a brand-new award in honor of the late Norm Mineta. To honor his legacy, the Norman Y. Mineta Spirit Award recognizes a youth advocate whose community-centered leadership has exemplified dedication, compassion, and resilience benefitting Asian Americans on a local or national level. The inaugural Norman Y. Mineta Spirit Award recipient is Tarina Ahuja. Read more about our first Spirit Award honoree here

Take a moment to watch Tarina’s exceptional acceptance speech or experience the whole event when you watch the recording!

Finally, we extend our appreciation to our board of directors, our national advisory council members, and our sponsors for their support and commitment to our organization. It’s not too late to celebrate with us and make a contribution so that we can continue our work in support of individuals, families, and communities nationwide.

Please consider donating online. Your gift serves to advance the civil and human rights of Asian Americans and builds and promotes a fair and equitable society for all.

In solidarity and with sincere thanks,

John C. Yang
