“Americans want stricter gun measures. Gen Z will help us get there.”

John, I’m Fred Guttenberg. My beautiful daughter Jaime’s life was cut short at 14 years old by gun violence in Parkland, shot by a student with an AR-15 he never should have had access to.

In the four plus years since Jaime’s death, I’ve dedicated my life to ending gun violence, fighting alongside her classmates and an entire generation of young people traumatized by our country’s gun crisis.

Yet, our elected leaders are still failing Jaime’s generation, and NRA-backed politicians and the gun lobby continue to block any change.

But I have renewed hope that our movement is in good hands, because right now, Gen Z is rising up like never before.

They’re voting, organizing, running for office, and winning – like my friend and gun violence prevention champion Maxwell Frost, the first Gen Z member to win a primary election and in 12 days could become the FIRST Gen Z member of Congress.

Young people like Maxwell have been at the forefront of the movement to end gun violence. I know that with Maxwell in Congress, our movement will be unstoppable.

Since losing Jaime, I’ve met with a lot of politicians who’ve continuously made empty promises without any of the urgency or action that young people are demanding.

But now, their generation could have a fighter in Congress who knows that sweeping gun violence reform CANNOT wait.

I know that with your support, Maxwell can win in the general election and fight for long overdue policies such as universal background checks, red-flag laws, and banning assault weapons.

I also know the grip that the NRA still has on Congress. They’ll spend millions to defeat a gun violence prevention champion like him.

But Maxwell has something that the gun lobby will never have: an unstoppable grassroots movement made up of everyday folks like you who will fuel his campaign through Election day.
