Join the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site for a day of fun for the whole family at the base of the San Jacinto Monument. It’s time for a fall fandango! The event will have saloon games, period music and dancing, arts and crafts, and hands-on living history activities, plus food trucks and vendors. There are many heritage activities across the Texas Historical Commission’s state historic sites this fall. Plan your visit to a site by reading our state historic sites official guide, or by looking at the upcoming events calendar below.
San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site is the headquarters of Stephen F. Austin’s colony in Mexican Texas. Founded in 1823, the town served as the administrative, political, and cultural capital of American immigration to Texas before it was intentionally burned by its residents during the Runaway Scrape of the Texas Revolution. The Villa de Austin historic townsite is a 2021 recreation of buildings that offers an impression of the historic fabric of the town. Plan your visit and explore the modern visitors center and museum.
