Elsa, "The Best Friend" of her flock, is alive today thanks to kind friends like you.

We welcomed Elsa to Farm Sanctuary after her rescue from a factory farm. She was
debeaked, a painful procedure discouraging birds from pecking each other - a stress response caused by unnatural confinement. The industry sears off the tips of their beaks without pain relief because wounded birds won't sell.

Without rescue and sanctuary, Elsa would have been killed at five months old - though most turkeys are now slaughtered at 14-18 weeks. Eight years later, she is free to explore, breathe fresh air, and party with her friends! Everyone flocks to Elsa's side because she's a fun and kind companion.

But for every rescued turkey like Elsa, there are millions more who still desperately need our help. Some are sensitive and shy, others playful and bold. All, like Elsa, can have meaningful lives if they're allowed to live.
