Yesterday brought some amazing news we were all waiting for. Fracking is once again banned in England.

Rishi Sunak announced at his first prime minister’s questions that he’d ditch Liz Truss’s delusional plans. And reimpose the moratorium on fracking.

This a huge win. For tens of thousands of us who stood up to fracking, for common sense, and for the environment. And for all the community groups across the country who showed that fracking is not welcome anywhere.

It's an incredible moment for the movement we’re all part of. Whether you signed a petition, contacted your MP, or supported us with donations or by spreading our message, thank you so much for your part in this campaign.

With the fracking ban back in place, now it’s on Mr Sunak to reverse his predecessor’s dangerous attacks on nature too (you can sign the petition here ([link removed]) ). And focus on real solutions to the energy crisis.

BIG WIN: GOVERNMENT WILL NOT APPEAL CLIMATE STRATEGY RULING

Now for some more good news, amid the political chaos of the last week.

You might remember hearing from us back in July about our brilliant legal win against the UK government on its flawed Net Zero Strategy. A win made possible thanks to brilliant people like you who donated to our campaign.

This month we heard the UK government has dropped its plans to appeal the High Court ruling that its strategy is unlawful. That means our win in court is safe! By the end of March, the new government must draw up a new plan for meeting the UK’s emissions targets.

Last November almost half a million people across the UK headed out in their local communities to take part in a global day of action during the COP26 talks.

As world leaders meet in Egypt for COP27 next month, we’re joining our friends from African movements for another huge day of action. Coming together to demand climate justice and defend human rights. And we’d love you to get involved where you live.

Whether you’re in Bristol or Sheffield, Newcastle or London, there are opportunities for you to take action all over the country on 12 November. HOW CAMPAIGNERS STOOD UP FOR CAMEROON'S EBO FOREST

Now for a hopeful story from our friends in Cameroon.

They’re fighting to save Ebo Forest. A new private road running into the heart of the forest is being built without any kind of consultation with the communities who live in areas around it. It threatens to expose this precious ecosystem to more illegal logging and poaching.

Find out how Friends of the Earth Cameroon and environmental organisations across the globe stood up for Ebo Forest. And prompted the Cameroonian government to intervene with an investigation into the road building plans.

Did you know that fossil fuel companies can sue countries if environmental protections get in the way of their profits? Nations including the UK could be liable for billions just for trying to stop climate breakdown.

In the past few weeks countries including Germany, France and Spain have announced they're leaving the dangerous treaty that created this ludicrous situation. Can you join the Europe-wide call for all countries to bin it? A million people already have!
