Dear John,
With the third prime minister within just a few weeks, the most recent one being chosen by an increasingly erratic and desperate group of Tory MPs, a crippling deficit in UK public finances is now overshadowed by an even larger deficit of democratic legitimacy. All is the making of a party almost completely out of touch with the reality of the people of this country. And amidst calls for unity behind their new leader, we remember that Tories said the exact same thing just seven weeks ago in support of the last one: what could possibly go wrong.
People across Britain are demanding for the country to change course, for us to address the cost-of-living and the climate crisis, to repair relations with Ireland and the EU, and to establish a truely democratic constitution and a fair electoral system.
Change is coming, and Greens are making it happen, whereever we are. Getting involved locally is easy:
1) help Croydon Greens get more councillors elected in two pending by-elections. Sign up here.
2) join our WCL Greens Social this Saturday from 4pm at the Lonsdale Arms, Junction of Westbourne Grove/Portbello Rd.
3) come the next WCL monthly meeting on the 7th November 2022. We will be voting in our MP candidates for the next General election. Sign up here.
4) Nominations are still open and candidates sought for our neighbouring constituencies Brent Central and Brent North by November 7th 2022. If you are interested, please get in touch with the Electoral Returning Officer of Brent GP, Martin Francis martinrfrancis (at) virginmedia.com
