Hey team -- October has been busy. The fight for fair maps has gone to the U.S. Supreme Court. With your support, we are continuing this fight. And our affiliate -- the National Redistricting Foundation -- has played a pivotal role as well.

But -- just in case you missed it, let’s recap what map manipulators across the country are doing to unjustly maintain power and suppress the power of the people.

ALABAMA

The U.S. Supreme Court heard oral argument about Alabama's congressional map on October 4th. Alabama asked the Court to disregard decades of legal precedent and argued for the adoption of a new race-blind test under the Voting Rights Act. This would undermine the historic safeguards established to protect minority voters and designed to prevent against racially discriminatory maps -- just like the ones Alabama enacted.

John -- it’s clear what these power-hungry extremists are trying to do. While advocates work to create fair congressional maps, conservatives see this as an opportunity to diminish minority voting power by gerrymandering and fighting to eliminate our ability to hold them accountable. Right-wing extremists’ desire for political power will not stop there.

We want our maps to be fair but we can’t do this work to stop extremist map manipulators without you. Help us fight back -- will you chip in a few bucks today? [[link removed]]

NORTH CAROLINA

On December 7th , the U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral argument in Moore v. Harper , a North Carolina redistricting case. The National Redistricting Foundation, one of our affiliates, has been at the forefront of the legal fight against the gerrymandered map and will be supporting respondents arguing that day. A Supreme Court decision in favor of North Carolina could allow state legislatures to wield unchecked power within states over federal elections, to draw gerrymandered maps with impunity, and even violate the very state constitutions that created them.

OHIO

In a desperate attempt to duck, dodge, and delay drawing a constitutionally compliant congressional map, right-wing extremists in Ohio have appealed the Ohio Supreme Court's July ruling that the state’s congressional map was a partisan gerrymander to the U.S. Supreme Court. The Ohio Supreme Court’s ruling is a result of a lawsuit filed by Ohio voters supported by the National Redistricting Action Fund, which All On The Line is a project of. This is yet another attempt by map manipulators to avoid accountability, undermine the Ohio Supreme Court, and deprive voters of their fundamental rights.

As these challenges arise and redraws take place in North Carolina and Ohio, we will remain loud in our efforts to mobilize grassroots power, our democracy reform work, and our advocacy for fair maps.

For every action, there’s a reaction.

Don’t let the reaction of these politicians stop our progress toward fair democracy. Chip in a few bucks today to help us continue our work in states like Alabama, North Carolina and Ohio. [[link removed]]

Thank you for all your support.
