Hi, I’m Brian. Data Director at the Democratic Party of New Mexico. My job is to extrapolate the demographic and voting data so we have a scientific breakdown of our path to victory. With less than two weeks until the election, I’m up late every night and up early every morning just trying to make sense of these voting numbers. My calculations indicate that this election is unlike any other on record. Based on the historical data and current turnout, we don’t know what to expect. Historically, Democrats in New Mexico see a dramatic decline in votes and percentage of the vote in midterm elections. |
After my most recent analyses, I’m worried that Democrats may have reached our ceiling of support for this cycle. But one thing I conclude is that this race is still wide open and either Republicans or Democrats can surge to victory between now and election day.
We just may find ourselves in a pickle once the election ends, which should terrify all of us. I really, really don’t want to see Democrats lose the election at the hands of the election-denying, abortion-banning, hoax-pushing GOP, and I’m sure you don’t either.
I’m worried that we simply don’t have the infrastructure nor the funds to reach enough voters and get them to the polls, which is very necessary for us to carry our candidates through the finish line. The numbers show that there is a narrow path to victory, but we have to get this right. |
