Friend,
Today is your chance to protect the Boundary Waters!
I have been honored to be part of the fight for wild places in Minnesota and across the country while I served as Minnesota Senator and later the 42nd Vice President of the United States.

Today’s threat to the Boundary Waters dwarfs all others; a foreign mining conglomerate with connections to the Trump family is proposing to build a sulfide-ore copper mine less than one mile upstream of America’s most popular Wilderness. This spells disaster.
That is why I am asking you —- as former Vice President, former United States senator, father, husband, and advocate for wild places – for your help. Will you make a gift to protect the Boundary Waters today? [[link removed]]

This type of mining has catastrophic consequences and has never — never — been undertaken without serious environmental consequences. Sulfide-ore mining is dangerous everywhere and most dangerous in wet environments. And the Boundary Waters is nothing if not wet.

Ideally and most logically, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and its parent agency, the Interior Department, would move to withdraw from its mineral leasing program all federally managed minerals in the Boundary Waters watershed. That would permanently protect the Boundary Waters from sulfide-ore mining.
But we are in unprecedented and difficult times ; we must stand our ground by challenging every bad decision that further threatens the Boundary Waters.
Please consider making a generous gift today [[link removed]] to ensure that Save the Boundary Waters can continue its important work.
For the Boundary Waters,
Walter Mondale
Former Vice President of the United States
