Anchorage Coalition to End Homelessness, Board of Directors, and HPRS Advisory Council denounce harmful racist language

The Anchorage Coalition to End Homelessness (ACEH), its Board of Directors and the Homeless Prevention and Response System Advisory Council denounce the harmful racist language and ideas publicly shared at recent Anchorage Assembly and Community Council meetings. Homelessness is a national problem that is directly tied to the availability of appropriate and affordable housing. The forced removal of anyone from our city is unacceptable. To imply that sending a particular group away is going to increase access to housing is inaccurate and causes harm to the Alaska Native community. ACEH is working to build an equitable Homeless Prevention and Response System. It is a high priority for Anchorage and for the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
