I also want you to know why our fundraising is so important. This will take a bit to explain, but you should know why it matters.

The thing is, people like you are already paying close attention to this race. You’re even getting involved by making contributions, volunteering at events, hosting debate watch parties, and sharing your thoughts with your friends on social media.

But there are millions of voters who haven’t tuned in yet. A lot of them have never heard of Kamala, which makes sense! She’s never run for president before, and she’s not a household name.

Here’s the good news: when people do get to know Kamala, they see her as presidential material. They think she has the grit and courage it’s going to take to beat Donald Trump.

It’s why our campaign jumped in the polls after the first debate. People tuned in, and they liked what they saw in Kamala.

But other candidates in this race have run for president before. And others even started out with huge war chests of campaign funds.

We didn’t.

So we’re playing catch up on two things: introducing Kamala to millions of Americans, and raising the amount of money required to do it. That’s the basic challenge we face as a campaign right now.

Thanks to the support of grassroots people like you, we’re making good progress.

But the facts of this race mean we can’t let up, even for a day. Or we run the risk of falling behind and never quite catching up.
