I know all anyone can think about is Election Day. But, John, our fight goes WAY past November 8.
So many PACs funnel money into candidates' races, get them elected, then leave them out to fight on their own. And for District Attorneys, that could mean leaving them to fight alone against illegitimate and malicious recalls, impeachments, and lawsuits.
That’s why we run Real Justice differently.
We provide support for our Real Justice DAs past Election Day — defending those in office who we helped get to their positions to ensure they can direct their time and attention towards creating real lasting policy changes.
THAT’S how we’ve helped build this movement to end mass incarceration and hold police accountable. We follow through.
But because our fight doesn’t end in 12 days, it means we need even more support to continue working with and protecting the DAs we elect and those already in office.
And let me tell you, defending DAs can be GROSSLY expensive — especially when we are up against billionaire, cash-flushed opponents.
We saw it happen in San Francisco against my brother, revolutionary DA Chesa Boudin. Conservative mega-donors spent over $6 million to blanket the city with lies about him and his work to get people to vote for the recall. And we can’t afford for it to happen again.
Some fights will take political muscle. Some will take financial. But we need to be ready for ANYTHING coming our way.
“On” years and “off” years aren’t real. Not when DAs can transform our justice system, every day of every year they are in office.
So much love and appreciation for you,
Shaun
