NumbersUSA rededicates itself to WINNING the fight!

Dear John,

Over 26 years ago, Roy Beck and a few of us, his close colleagues, decided that the U.S. Congress would never bring immigration under control unless and until they felt constituent pressure to do so MILLIONS OF AMERICANS BANDING TOGETHER TO MAKE THEIR VOICES HEARD ON CAPITOL HILL. To do that, Roy founded a new kind of immigration organization, NumbersUSA, the first of its kind to use the Internet to allow Americans to contact Congress for free from their own homes using ordinary computers. The goal was to get Americans faxing, get Americans telephoning Congress, and MAKE Congress pay attention. That was the big idea behind this group.

In the decade before NumbersUSA was formed, Congress had passed several big hikes in immigration and approved several gigantic illegal alien amnesties. It took us three or four years to put our new way of doing political activism using computers in place. However, by the turn of this century, we had created a unique, effective system and an organization.

In the 22 years of the 21st century, there have been NO MAJOR NEW AMNESTIES and NO MAJOR LEGAL IMMIGRATION HIKES! NumbersUSA's system works!

I've talked about HOW we do what we do, but I should mention the WHY. Why do we care about limiting immigration to the U.S.? Simple. We believe that the people of every nation have the RIGHT to decide who gets to move to their country, to immigrate here.

BIG CORPORATIONS shouldn't be able to force more and more cheap labor on the backs of ordinary American workers. The media should not be able to FORCE the amount of immigration that they want. GRASPING POLITICIANS should not be able to do it either.

American citizens are the ones who have to make room for new people, have to share the resources of schools, hospitals and roads. WE should have a say! Because of NumbersUSA, we do have a say. But while NumbersUSA has been FABULOUSLY SUCCESSFUL at stopping new outrages, we have not yet been able to CHANGE THE LAWS that are driving mass immigration. We've not yet been able to slow down the system of family CHAIN MIGRATION, or to eliminate the ridiculous VISA LOTTERY. The sensible and effective E-VERIFY SYSTEM for checking if Social Security numbers are real, stolen or fake has not yet been made mandatory. We have a LONG, LONG WAY TO GO!

In my opinion, Roy Beck and NumbersUSA prevented immigration increases by maybe 20 or 30 MILLION during this time. Roy kept the center from imploding.

We are now at a crossroads or perhaps a demarcation point along the path of this journey. Our founding President, Roy Beck, has decided to slow down his life a bit and step back from leadership. He's now 74, and it's time to let him spend more time with his grandkids. However, Roy has often explained that he's working on this issue for the sake of his grandchildren and all of our grandchildren! We know he'll stay involved.

At Roy's request and knowing it will take a tremendous leader to follow him, our fine NumbersUSA Board of Directors undertook a thorough NATIONWIDE SEARCH for our next leader. Our next leader will have to do even more. He will need to lead our offense to VICTORY and IMMIGRATION ROLLBACK. He'll need to get our immigration system pared back to add people to this country who we really want and need, and at a MODERATE pace that is more realistic, more environmentally sustainable, and more sensitive to the working people who have to compete with them.

After an exhaustive nationwide search, our Board was thrilled to have one stand out above all others.

MEET OUR NEW LEADER, James Massa! James is a seasoned leader who specializes in taking organizations to the next level. He did this as head of Cisco System's Global Government Solution Group, a division he led to triple sales in only three years. He formed strong, mission-focused relationships with all aspects of the US Federal Government. James also has decades of experience working with non-profit organizations.

But the thing you most need to hear, John, as a dedicated member of NumbersUSA, is that James is 100% committed to our mission and goals.

Here's what James said about our mission:

"Having the opportunity to lead NumbersUSA at this critical time in our nation is extremely exciting to me. There has been so much good work done in the last 26 years. However, working with the talented NumbersUSA staff and in partnership with all our grassroots constituents, I am looking forward to achieving decisive wins on policy that bring all the benefits of reduced immigration.

"As you know, we are strengthening and increasing both our relationships in Congress as well as other partners. We are also enhancing the tools we use to empower the NumbersUSA supporters so that their activism can be more effective in their voice being heard. Again, it's just an exciting time to be leading such an important organization."

We have a lot of very ambitious goals here at NumbersUSA. Although we have won many, many battles, such as stopping every siginificant amnesty attempt in the 21st century so far, we have not yet won our BIG GOALS:

1) Reducing legal immigration numbers to a manageable level;

2) Mandating E-Verify for every U.S. employer;

3) Eliminating chain migration of extended family members;

4) Securing the southern border;

5) Controlling the number of temporary work visas so Americans are not denied employment opportunities.

To get Congress to pass these measures, we must INCREASE our national membership, secure even MORE ALLIES in Congress as well as the business world, and make NumbersUSA known to every voter.

John, there is an excellent chance that American voters are about to vote in a Republican Congress in the midterm elections on November 8. As you know, VERY OFTEN Republicans have been DISAPPOINTMENTS on immigration. Too often they have sided with big business interests who want more and more and more CHEAP LABOR.

BUT this new bunch of Republicans MAY be better for two reasons.

1) Biden's infamous BORDER COLLAPSE is one of the main reasons Democrats are losing this election campaign. The GOP is taking careful note.

2) Rep. Kevin McCarthy has promised not only to make immigration control a top issue if he succeeds in becoming the new Speaker of the House, but he has said immigration will be one of the first issues he deals with. NumbersUSA will hold McCarthy to this promise!

John, CHANGE IS IN THE AIR! Can't you feel it? During the past two years of the Biden Administration, we've had to look on as Pres. Biden and his feckless allies in Congress have dismantled border security. Although we have SUCCEEDED in blocking terrible changes to the actual, it's the already existing LOOPHOLES IN THE LAW that Biden has taken advantage of.

What we need, what we must have and are determined to have, is improved laws. ARE YOU WITH US???
