Dear Neighbor, I hope you are well! I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on several happenings in the district as well as Harrisburg.

Tree of Life Synagogue Mass Shooting

On the eve of the deadliest act of antisemitism in the United States, news headlines and social media feeds are flooded with comments on the current state of antisemitism while highlighting those who continue to spout hate and violence towards the Jewish community. Rooted in fallacy, antisemitism is a dangerous conspiracy theory that places blame of the world’s failings on shadowy Jewish figures. Antisemitic violence like we’ve seen in Pittsburgh, Charleston, and Poway has been on the rise since 2016 and remains a threat.

I remain committed to standing against hate speech, including any antisemitic remarks that threaten the safety of our community members, and denounce those that continue to spread hate. 

Tomorrow we remember the victims and survivors of the Tree of Life synagogue mass shooting and reaffirm our commitment to fight antisemitism online and in our communities.

School Board Legislation Official 

I am happy to report that my School Board Legislation is official! On Monday, my legislative package got their bill numbers and were referred to the House Education Committee:

HB 2897 - School board Member Training Updates

HB 2898 - Free Tuition at PASSHE Institutions for School Board Members

HB 2900 - Compensation for School Board Members

I am proud of this bill package that would strengthen our school boards in the district and across Pennsylvania by increasing training and literacy for members while providing fair compensation. 

Harrisburg Update

In Tuesday's legislative session I stood with State Representative Joe Ciresi to ask our colleagues to pass legislation that would rename a section of Main Street in Trappe as the Trooper Branden T. Sisca Memorial Highway to honor Trooper Sisca's legacy. The bill passed the House, was signed by the Senate and now goes to the Governor for signature.

Midterm Election

Only 13 days left until the Midterm Election! You can vote by mail, at your polling place, or in person by mail-in ballot. 

All completed mail-in and absentee ballots must be received by 8pm on Election Day. Montgomery County has 12 secure ballot drop-off boxes around the county and 5 Voter Services Offices, all to drop off your ballot. 

Polls open November 8th at 7am and close at 8pm. 

Make sure to cast your ballot before or on Election Day and let freedom ring.

Drug Take Back Day

This Saturday is the biannual DEA Prescription Drug Take Back Day. You can safely and anonymously dispose of your old or unneeded prescription drugs at one of the many locations in Pennsylvania and across the country.

These Drug Take Back Days have helped remove hundreds of thousands of pounds of prescription medications from homes that could otherwise pose a danger. Clean out your medicine cabinets and dispose of prescriptions drugs on October 29th from 10am to noon at one of the participating law enforcement sites.
