In case you haven’t met me yet, John, let me introduce myself.

I’m Chris Jones, and I’m running against Sarah Huckabee Sanders to be the next governor of Arkansas. I’m a seventh-generation Arkansan, minister, HBCU graduate, and former NASA physicist. My neighborhood is Arkansas, John — every last street and every single county.

The best way to get to know someone is by walking a mile in their shoes, and that’s why I’ve visited Arkansans in every county across the state (twice, in fact!). I know the struggles Arkansans are facing, because I’ve walked 2,896,400 steps in their shoes.

Our next governor needs to be prepared to move Arkansas into the future, not drag us back to the past. Arkansans are ready for new leadership that fights for their families in the governor’s office. I’d be so thankful to earn your support in my campaign to be the first Black governor of Arkansas, and I’m proud to work with The Collective PAC to build an America where Black people are equitably represented in the halls of power.

In visiting all 75 Arkansas counties twice, I’ve learned that Arkansas isn’t the hopeless “red” state experts make it out to be — it’s a place where folks are eager for the opportunity to thrive under new leadership. Our state is filled with people of all backgrounds just looking to reach their highest potential, if only they could get just a little bit of help.

But John, you wouldn’t get that impression from my opponent Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Her message of fear and division is just one example of how we’ve reached a level of toxicity in our politics, and Arkansas can’t stand it any longer — not if we’re serious about a new future for our state. It’s clear her brand of politics won’t help anyone but herself and her dark-money megadonors, and that’s a recipe for disaster.

Our state deserves a governor willing to walk in the shoes of its people, and my family has known for over 200 years just what that’s like. I’m excited to help unlock the Promise of Arkansas for everyone, but we’ve still got some major work to do in these last 13 days before Election Day. I’m not letting up until the polls close on November 8, and I hope you’ll be with me every step of the way.
