I have found meaning and purpose in my life by serving others and caring for my community – as a nurse, a volunteer, an advocate, and a mother. I've held patients' and family members' hands during their most difficult moments. I've cared for hospice patients in their homes and nursing homes. I've advocated for some of the most vulnerable children and adults in our state. And I did everything within my power to help my beloved son recover from his opioid addiction.

This work has led to some of the most meaningful connections of my life and opened up my eyes to experiences wholly unlike mine. It’s been one of the greatest honors and privileges of my life to meet and listen to so many Missourians these last few months.
