Sign the petition: As more evidence comes to light, the Justice Department must prosecute Trump for illegally moving official documents!

In the weeks after the FBI executed a search warrant at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago home,¹ more evidence of wrongdoing has emerged.

Trump was specifically warned of the legal peril awaiting him if he did not return government materials.³ Now, the FBI is investigating whether Trump committed a federal crime by moving classified documents from his term in the White House to Mar-a-Lago.¹ The FBI has a second active investigation into Trump’s role in the January 6 insurrection.¹ All this while Trump faces inquiries by New York State's attorney general and by the district attorney in Georgia over his attempts to overturn the election. While the details of the Mar-a-Lago investigation are still forthcoming, Trump's disregard for the law is on display over and over again.

And yet, the Republican party rushed to Trump’s defense, criticizing the entire FBI as an institution.¹ The GOP already helped acquit him after he abused his power and obstructed Congress—and even after he incited the deadly white supremacist-led insurrection on January 6, 2021, they continued to say that he had done nothing wrong. Enough is enough.

The Justice Department can and must act swiftly to hold him accountable for theft, destruction, and concealment of public records as well as his other attacks on our democracy and elections.

The Presidential Records Act was originally passed because Richard Nixon attempted to cover up his crimes during Watergate.² Its purpose is to prevent this dangerous behavior from being repeated.

Now, there’s even a key witness–a former White House employee and Navy sailor—who told the FBI that he moved the boxes at Trump’s request.⁴

If the Justice Department allows Trump to get away with his removal and destruction of official documents, it will tell future presidents that they can get away with these crimes, too. This is just one of the reasons why we must come together to demand that they prosecute Trump for his host of crimes and corruption.
