It takes an obscene amount of money to run for president.
Normally, someone like Bernie, who refuses to have a super PAC, and who does not have high-dollar fundraising events or accept money from billionaires, would have a very tough time running for president.
The good news is our political revolution is powerful enough that we can compete with people who do accept that kind of money. Our average donation is just $18. Bernie is enormously proud of that fact.
The job in front of us before tomorrow’s FEC fundraising deadline is to reach a milestone that is unprecedented in the history of American politics at this point in the race: 5 million contributions since the start of our campaign.
If we reach 5 million contributions by tomorrow at midnight, we will be in an incredible position, one that will set us up to do very well in Iowa and beyond. And so I am asking you to make a contribution to help us reach that goal.
