Upcoming PD Opportunities for November:

From 9 a.m.-noon on November 7 and 14, virtually: Collaborative Teams that Transform Schools

The core of a professional learning community is the network of collaborative teams ? the groups of teachers who work together to improve student learning. Collaborative teams have the potential to transform major aspects of teaching and learning. Learn how to transition from teachers who work in isolation to teachers who work in collaboration and from stakeholders who think in terms of my responsibility to stakeholders who think in terms of our responsibility.

Learning outcomes may include:

  • Gain a model of effective instruction and strategies for direct instruction.
  • Explore resources for collaborative teams to use as they have honest and challenging discussions, set and monitor norms, and focus on the right work.
  • Chart progress and transformation with self-evaluation surveys.
  • Study how real schools have successfully implemented the strategies discussed during the training.

Participants must attend both virtual sessions for .5 PTSB credit. Register here.

From 9:30-11 a.m. on November 8, virtually: Independent Learning for EL Students?

In teaching we need to provide ample time for students to practice in order for students to transfer the new knowledge learned. And for EL students, a need to also understand the language is needed in order to be successful for independent learning. In this session we will explore and discuss ways for meaningful and deliberate independent practice to occur.

There will be two times available, one being a repeat session so if one time does not work for you, an opportunity to attend another session is available.

Register here.?

From 10-11 a.m. on November 8, virtually; Hathaway Scholarship Online Orientation

The WDE?s Hathaway Team will hold online orientations starting at 10 a.m. on the second Tuesday of every month. The orientation is for those new to the program, or for those who want a content refresher. Legislative updates will be included. Sessions will last about 45 minutes.

At the end of each online session, attendees who are still in the meeting will be entered into a drawing for a ?Hathaway Swag Bag.? All district personnel are invited to participate.

Interested personnel should sign up here.

For more information, contact Madison Lacey or Bradley Barker, Hathaway Consultants, at [email protected].

From 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m. on November 15, virtually: Instructional Practices to Support Diverse Learners, Part II

In this session, using the crosswalk from Session 1, WestEd will guide participants through a process of adapting a lesson to include elements of quality interactions and scaffolding to support English learners with disabilities.

There will be two times available, one being a repeat session so if one time does not work for you, an opportunity to attend another session is available.

Register here. The registration form will have the available times to choose from for this training. The virtual Zoom link will be sent out upon registration.

The WDE will resume the Coaching Institute for the 2022-23 school year and will hold monthly Community of Practice sessions beginning in September. The purpose of the Coaching Institute will be to provide ongoing support and updates on relevant topics associated with MTSS implementation, as well as technical assistance on our implementation modules (available in September as well).
