This year, we had our most successful legislative session ever, and today, eight new gun safety laws are going into effect. Thanks to the support of gun safety champions like you, Washington State will be safer – and other states have a model for similar action. 

Here's a sampling of the bills we've passed because of your help:
  • Updating Extreme Risk Protection Orders with important updates to the existing law. 
  • Keeping guns out of the wrong hands by preventing individuals with a history of violence or who have been found incompetent to stand trial from possessing firearms.
  • Protecting domestic violence victims by authorizing law enforcement to remove firearms when making a domestic violence arrest or serving a protection order.
  • Preventing suicides and violent crises by temporarily restricting access to firearms for people who have been involuntarily held for psychiatric treatment.

None of this work is easy. The gun lobby has fought us every step of the way, and we can expect even more obstruction from the NRA and its cronies.
