John, I’m Roy Cooper, Governor of North Carolina and Chair of the Democratic Governors Association.

I’m reaching out today because the state of our democracy is fragile — and this CNN headline really sums up why:

“More than half of GOP governor nominees have questioned or denied the legitimacy of the 2020 election”

There are 36 critical gubernatorial elections this November — and in 22 of those states, there will be a candidate on the ballot who has implied or fully embraced the lie that the 2020 election was fraudulent.

Electing Democratic Governors — who are the last line of defense for our democracy — has never been more important than it is right now.

And that’s especially true in Arizona — where the Republican candidate has centered her campaign around the Big Lie, while Democrat Katie Hobbs has stood up for our democracy as Arizona’s Secretary of State, even in the face of death threats and attacks from the far-right.

Right now, the race for Arizona Governor is neck-and-neck, which is why I’m asking: Can you pitch in today to support Katie’s campaign? Early voting in Arizona is underway, and it’s up to us to make sure Katie’s message is reaching voters.
