[1]Charles Booker
This weekend at an event in Bardstown, a woman showed up to heckle me. She
accused me of wanting to kill babies because I don’t believe the
government should deny women healthcare.
I responded with respect. I was brought up in a Pentecostal Church, which
teaches that abortion is wrong in all cases. For many in our Commonwealth,
that is a personal belief.
But let me be clear: the government should not be in the business of
enforcing personal beliefs on others.
My mom had two ectopic pregnancies -- she’s told her story of nearly dying
because she couldn’t get the health care she needed.
This is a complicated issue. And we can’t allow the government to decide
who gets health care and who doesn’t.
