John, As you know, I have been, and always will be, a tireless advocate for reproductive freedom across Long Island and the entire country. But what you may not know is that this fight is personal to me. John, I recently opened up about my story in an op-ed for the New York Daily News. If you haven’t already, I hope you’ll give it a read.
Sixteen years ago, I suffered a rare fetal death in the second trimester of my pregnancy – and I had to undergo an emergency abortion procedure to save my life. Had I not had the fundamental human right to decide what happens with my own body, I might not be here today. And yet, Republicans across the country are steadfast in their commitment to enacting a national abortion ban and restricting life-saving procedures like mine. I can say, first-hand, that sending anti-choice Republicans like Anthony D’Esposito to Congress will place our lives in danger. Abortion is healthcare. And I’m the only candidate in this race who will fight to protect this constitutional freedom for all women across the country. - Laura |
