Our gala starts in just one week, and we’re excited to share it with you and disability community members and allies from across the country and around the world!
Join us for a special virtual edition of our annual celebration every Tuesday in November!
We’re celebrating autistic advocacy every Tuesday in November, and you can choose which event you want to attend—or choose all of them! Your ticket is good for every event.
Our speakers and awardees include:
Nothing About Us Without Us Award: Ma’ayan Anafi and Gavin Grimm
Mel Baggs Down In The Valley Award: Jordyn Zimmerman
More awardees will be announced soon! To hear from them and our executive director Julia Bascom, join us at the awards ceremony Tuesday, November 15th starting at 7pm.
We’ll also be having two panels featuring self-advocates and allies. The first panel, on Election Day, is all about barriers to voting for people with disabilities! The second panel on Tuesday the 22nd is about fighting for our rights, highlighting the current work being done in the LGBTQ+ and reproductive rights movements to defend people's right to bodily autonomy.
But to kick us off, we’ll have a #StopTheShock night of action on November 1st at 7pm Eastern time, Autistics Speaking Day. We will provide an update about the current legal and legislative status of the FDA ban and how our community can take action to demand Congress pass a law that would ban the use of electric shocks as aversives.
We ask that our gala attendees donate if they are able, but no donation will be required to attend our virtual gala events. Proceeds will support our advocacy work and programs for the coming year, and allow us to continue working to empower disabled people across the country.
Register now to reserve your spot. You can also RSVP to our Facebook event and invite your friends!
