Violent? Radical? Shameful? MAGA Republicans are projecting again Indivisibles,
MAGA Republicans just saw Hillary Clinton’s video about Crush the Coup, our new campaign to win state legislatures and prevent a MAGA coup in 2024. Let’s just say, they didn’t like being called out:
That’s Mark Finchem, Republican candidate for Arizona Secretary of State, getting a bit flustered on Twitter. If you haven’t guessed already, Mark is a far-right MAGA Republican, and while he claims that Indivisibles are violent, radical, and shameful, here’s a few of the things Mark has been up to:
- For starters, it’s bananas for someone like Mark to be calling us radical and violent when he’s a member of the far-right Oath Keepers militia.
- Mark Finchem traveled across the country to join in the insurrection on January 6th. Now, while his fellow Oath Keepers are being charged with conspiracy, Finchem is trying to downplay his actions at the Capitol.
- Mark Finchem didn’t just attend the January 6th riots though, he was a key planner in starting this attempted coup in Arizona.
- When Mark Finchem isn’t busy trying to undermine democracy, he spends his time posting conspiracy theories on social media.
- We all know that far-right online conspiracy theories lead to dangerous real-life threats against marginalized people. Mark Finchem didn’t just take part in antisemitic conspiracies, he doubled down on them.
- Mark Finchem also wants to bring his hateful rhetoric into schools and has been pushing a “teacher code of ethics” created by a far-right organization.
There’s not enough time to list all the awful things Mark Finchem has said and done -- that list can go on forever. We have two weeks to make sure Finchem loses his race and the good news is, there’s a strong Democratic candidate running against him.
Adrian Fontes is a voting rights champion. As the Maricopa County Recorder, he ran elections in Arizona’s biggest county in 2020 and fought back against MAGA conspiracy theories. Finchem is one of the most extreme candidates on the ballot this year, but he’s not alone. Hundreds of election deniers are running for office up and down the ballot, and it’s going to take all of us to defeat them.
In solidarity, Indivisible Team
