Friend,
Ten years ago when Hurricane Sandy hit New York, homes were destroyed and people were displaced. Families lost everything. Since then, the housing crisis and the climate crisis have intensified. And the wealthiest New Yorkers have only gotten richer.
This week to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Sandy, we’re taking the fight to the 1%. Join us as we #OccupyParkAve.

Blackrock is the largest financier of fossil fuels in the world. If they paid their fair share and stopped their dirty investments, New York could take real steps to address the climate crisis and the housing crisis.
Buildings are the top source of NY's climate-heating pollution, while rents and housing costs are out of control. Governor Hochul must raise the billions needed to take all buildings off fossil fuels & create deeply affordable housing by taxing the 1%
We’ll be back on Park Ave every day this week. Can you join us on Saturday at 11 AM for the culmination of our week of action? Click here to sign up.
The 10th anniversary of Hurricane Sandy is important for NYCC. In the aftermath of Sandy, NYCC organized supply drives and organized people displaced by storm damage living in hotel shelters and people struggling to repair their homes.
In the 10 years since Hurricane Sandy, NYCC members have fought tirelessly for climate justice. Meanwhile, the 1% and the greed of the biggest corporations drive an accelerating climate emergency, ensuring that future disasters will be even worse. To commemorate this anniversary, we’re taking the fight to them. Join us on Saturday.
Best,
Alicé Nascimento
