John,
Growing up is tough enough without politicians making things harder than they need to be.
The recent onslaught of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation represents a systemic effort to shame and hide LGBTQ+ identity, history, culture, and students. These laws unjustly deprive LGBTQ+ youth of the opportunity to see themselves reflected in schools, classrooms, and their communities.
This is erasure to the highest degree.
LGBTQ+ youth have access to varying levels of support and protection under state and local laws across the country. For more than 30 years, GLSEN has worked hand-in-hand with educators, students, and GSAs to elevate the student experience and develop resources to successfully advocate for LGBTQ+ students.
John, allies like you help build bridges and extend a network of support to young people across our country. Your support makes outreach like our Voter Registration campaign and resources like our State Policy Scorecard possible.
Thank you for rising up for LGBTQ+ youth. Because quality K–12 education is a fundamental right for every student.
