The January 6th Committee was created to fight for full accountability and transparency surrounding that horrific day, and its vote to subpoena Donald Trump about his involvement is a major step in the right direction. No one in this country is above the law, including the President. And with such an immense amount of evidence revealed about his direct responsibility in the attempt to subvert American democracy on January 6th, Trump must be held accountable to the fullest extent possible.

But let me be frank, team: we cannot hold Trump or his Republican accomplices accountable without Democrats in control of Congress . While I have been leading the charge on holding Trump accountable for January 6th and upholding our democracy since day one, MAGA Republicans have proven again and again they have absolutely no respect for the truth, for democracy, or for the rule of law. We cannot afford to give them the reins of our government as long as that is the case.
