John — Yesterday I learned about yet another school shooting, this one in St. Louis.
Two people were killed, a woman and a teenage girl. Seven others were injured.
I’m thinking about the parents of that teenage girl, who sent their daughter to school yesterday not knowing it was the last time they’d see her.
I know that pain all too well.
When my son Jordan was shot and killed in 2012, I set myself out on a mission to stop gun violence in our country. That mission has taken me to Congress, where I’ve done all I can to make our communities safe from gun violence.
But it’s not enough. Just this year, we’ve seen horrifying mass shootings in Uvalde, Highland Park, and now St. Louis.
We’re so used to these happening that sometimes they barely make the news.
My mission is not over. I’m motivated to keep challenging my colleagues in Congress to do more to stop these tragedies.
No matter how much Republicans and the gun lobbies fight me, I won’t back down.
I hope you’ll join me on my mission. Let’s take a stand together.
Onward,
Lucy McBath
