John, It’s hard to believe, but there’s only two weeks left until Election Day. Voices for Public Transit wants to make sure you’re prepared to get out the public transportation vote! That starts with knowing the basics: where your polling place is located, what candidates and initiatives are on your ballot, whether any of those ballot initiatives would help advance public transit in your area, and how your vote can play a major role in shaping public transportation policy in the future. Remember, the road to public transit funding is a long and winding one. While passage of last year’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act made historic investments in public transit, exactly how much of those funds make it to our communities to expand and improve local public transit often relies on the support of voters at the state and local level. Watch our public transit funding video to refresh your memory. Last year, voters nationwide overwhelmingly turned out to support local public transportation ballot measures, giving Voices for Public Transit a record 100%-win rate for 2021. With your help, we hope to maintain that level of enthusiasm and support for public transportation on Election Day 2022. So, get informed, get involved, and get out the public transportation vote on November 8! Together, we can build a stronger future for communities nationwide by supporting and advancing policies that invest in public transit. Best, Voices for Public Transit |
