Dear Jack,
What a week! Firstly a very warm welcome to the thousands of you
who have just joined the Reform UK family. It is great to have you
with us.
We are the party on the up, with a strong belief that
we can make Britain great. There is so much potential but we are being
badly let down by weak political leadership and poor management. We
are the only party putting forward bold radical solutions to the
challenges in front of us.
The acclamation of the Prime
Minister by some 160 people, with no electoral mandate from anybody,
having been rejected by his party members just a few weeks previously,
is an affront to democracy at every level. He should call a general
election but instead he appears likely to impose brutal austerity upon
us, thus increasing the chances of a deep recession. This is totally
unnecessary and self inflicted in many ways.
Firstly, the cause of the market turmoil and
Establishment panic was the flawed and unlimited energy price subsidy
scheme designed by the Tories, which may cost £100 billion plus over
18-24 months. I gave them our Reform UK energy plan, which would have
avoided this mess. They chose to ignore it. Our plan put the cost on
the UK energy producers, not the taxpayer. Take
a look at our plan on our website. This is still possible and
would transform the finances that are concerning markets.
Secondly, the Tories have allowed an explosion of
wasteful government spending in recent years. As every household and
business is looking at budgets looking to save £5 in £100, so every
government, local authority and quango should be doing the same. This
would amount to £50 billion plus and would pay for the tax cuts needed
for the lowest paid and small businesses which would generate higher
growth, with the greatest multiplier effect as it is bottom up not
trickle down. Yet no mention of these savings is proposed by the
Government.
Thirdly the Government insists on
continuing the obsession with Westminster’s Net Zero which is making
us Net Poorer. There is over £1 trillion of energy treasure under our
feet, owned by us all. This would transform our finances and provide
cheap energy to make our industries much more competitive and save us
all cash! Yet Westminster does not want to access this
treasure.
We will be ready for a general election whenever it
comes and have some 500 candidates already, but welcome many more; we
aim to stand over 600 across the UK.
With your help, we can surprise everyone. The other parties
ignore us at their peril.
Thanks for your support, and do spread the word. It’s time for
Reform!
With thanks,
Richard Tice Reform
UK Leader
