I’ve dedicated my life to helping the homeless and I know Barbara Bry is the only candidate with the independence and integrity to get our City’s homeless policy back on track.
San Diego’s homeless program used to be a model for the rest of the Country. We were treating people individually, through a combination of compassion and individualized care. Our process wasn’t done until those under our care were back to being healthy and productive members of society.
Politicians including Todd Gloria supported defunding these critical efforts, diverting money to developers under the theory that housing alone would solve the problem.
Almost a decade later, homelessness has reached the tipping point, people have died and even more people are living on the street, yet politicians are still pushing the same agenda, deemphasizing mental health, drug abuse and youth services, which is what got us here in the first place.
I cannot in good conscience just sit and watch while the same politicians keep sinking our City further. That's why I will be supporting Barbara Bry for mayor and I look forward to working with her to get our City headed back in the right direction.
