MOVE—Mobilize, Organize, Vocalize and Empower—is a biennial gathering of Arab American changemakers and community builders within the arts, social/racial justice and philanthropy spaces. Launched five years ago, MOVE creates space for Arab Americans and allies to work, hand-in-hand, toward genuine, systemic change. Curated by ACCESS and our three national institutions— the Arab American National Museum (AANM), the National Network for Arab American Communities (NNAAC) and the Center for Arab American Philanthropy (CAAP)—MOVE is the only Arab American convening of its kind in the U.S. Historically, this gathering has brought together over 500 participants from all corners of the country to explore intersectionality in a safe environment and engage in dialogue on a range of issues that impact Arab Americans and all communities of color. The infectious energy that is generated throughout this three-day convening has built collaboration on matters that MOVE us all to action.
This highly anticipated summit will build on our previous convenings and focus on how we can best work in coalition to leverage our collective power during what continues to be a challenging and critical time for communities of color. As we experience an unprecedented culture of divisiveness in our society, we are challenged to move beyond our own networks to engage in broad coalition with others to create meaningful change. MOVE creates opportunities for us to affect change in new ways, working collaboratively across diverse industries to develop innovative solutions to address our nation’s most pressing challenges.
This is where you come in! We are asking you to contribute to these critical conversations by submitting your ideas for our 2023 conference sessions. This highly anticipated three-day event will focus on effective and genuine discussions on a variety of topics that matter in our communities, including MENA representation, equity, women’s health, immigration, refugees, research, art and culture, philanthropy, civic engagement, advocacy and more. We’d love to hear your thoughts on topics, speakers, sessions and/or entertainment that could be incorporated into MOVE 2023. Please create a separate submission for each unique idea, speaker, topic or session you have. Priority will be given to ideas that are inclusive of the full diversity of the Arab American community and towards sessions that provide opportunities for participants to collaborate and learn together. Submit your ideas here!
