Hi Friend,

I’m Julia, and I’m 17 years old from Somerset, WI and I called TrevorLifeline at this time last year.

Where I come from, being LGBTQ is more than frowned upon. Just walking down the street in my town, I’ve been pushed down, called names, and been glared at simply because I came out as pansexual.

One December day last year, I was feeling more alone than ever. I realized just how dangerous it is to keep all the negative emotions and thoughts bottled inside. I thought, “I can’t keep pushing them down. I am scared of what will happen if I do.”

So in that minute, I called The Trevor Project, and I asked for help.

Since that call, I have come out to my family, and found that they were accepting and proud of me. I’ve created an LGBTQ group at school that helps other teens feel less alone. And it all started with my call to The Trevor Project.

I am so grateful that someone was there to answer my call to provide a warm, compassionate space for me on that cold winter day. The Trevor Project was there for me when I was losing hope. Their trained counselors talked to me and helped me become the person I am today.
