Hi John - This past year has continued to bring countless stories of outrageous and inhumane treatment of families and children seeking asylum in the U.S. Children are dying in U.S. detention facilities or facing violence and trauma during their journeys to the border. Families are being forced to remain in unsafe conditions in Mexico while waiting months for judicial hearings, in violation of U.S. and international law. Children are still being separated from their parents and kept in detention facilities for weeks, and many are yet to be reunited with their families. Thankfully, Save the Children Action Network (SCAN) supporters like you have responded to these injustices, sending more than 300,000 messages to Congress and the Trump administration opposing their policies. You’ve also helped shape public opinion by writing letters to the editor, representing SCAN at events in your communities and speaking with candidates on the campaign trail. As we head into 2020, we’ll continue to speak out against these harmful policies in order to protect vulnerable children and their families as they attempt to escape the violence and poverty in their home countries and seek safety in the U.S. And we will continue to advocate for kids here at home and around the world, too. But we need your help, John. Please make a donation to SCAN before midnight tomorrow night – all donations we receive before the end of the year up to $15,000 will be DOUBLED – thanks to two generous donors. |
