Dear John,

That’s right, our world population has now reached another milestone: 8 billion. From now on, it’s #8billionAndCounting.

That fact will be true in just three weeks’ time on 15 November 2022.

Too few people believe population matters, but we know you do.

In the days ahead of or on 15 November, we invite you to help us promote and support Population Matters as we reach this global milestone.

Please consider taking one or more of the following 8 actions in the coming weeks or on 15 November, learn more about what's behind the numbers, and help us spread the word that population matters:

1. Read about the latest UN population projections

2. Buy one of our ‘8 billion and counting’ t-shirts, with two designs to choose from

3. Commit to run, walk, swim or cycle 8km and help raise funds for Population Matters*

4. Stop and think about population for 8 minutes (set those timers!), or even have a conversation with someone about our collective impact on the planet

5. Donate £8 (or however much you can spare) to Population Matters

6. Take one or more of our current campaign actions

7. Talk to 8 people about why you believe population matters and ask them to sign up to our newsletter

8. Help us get #8BillionAndCounting trending by sharing our posts on social media, or better a yet - share a selfie wearing your ‘8 billion and counting’ t-shirt!

If all 23,000 of our supporters and members did just one of those 8 things to mark this milestone, together we can get more people talking about population, raise awareness of the issue among thousands of others, and ensure everyone - no matter where they are - can live a better life on a thriving planet.
