Hello Friend,
Welcome to my e-newsletter, the Ready Room. As a retired Naval Aviator, the Ready Room is special to me because it’s where fellow aviators meet to brief and debrief missions. This is my weekly briefing to you on my mission in Congress. Please follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube for regular updates on how my team and I are working to serve you in Congress.
Honoring our Global War on Terrorism Veterans
More than two million veterans have served in the Global War on Terrorism over the past two decades. While we can never fully repay these heroes for their service, we can honor them with the Global War on Terrorism memorial on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The process for approving and constructing a memorial on the Mall is lengthy and time-consuming. In an effort to expedite the process, I joined a bipartisan group of fellow military veterans in Congress urging the timely construction of the GWOT memorial. All cosigners are my colleagues in the For Country Caucus, a bipartisan group of military veterans committed to strengthening national security, supporting veterans, and building a more productive government. Commitment to America - Secure the Border
Last week, the Polk County Sheriff's Office seized 11 pounds of fentanyl—enough to kill every person in Polk, Lake, Highlands, Hendry, Okeechobee, DeSoto, and Glades counties, plus nearly all of Hillsborough county. While I'm glad these drugs are off our streets, they should have never been there in the first place. Our community's fentanyl crisis is a direct result of the Biden administration's open border policies. Sadly, our people are paying the price, with Florida ranking second in the country for overdose deaths. Under the #CommitmentToAmerica, my colleagues and I will work to secure our border and stem the flow of drugs into our country. Click here to learn more.
