This is an urgent call for help:
After a series of extreme weather events, right now, more than 52 million people in 18 countries across southern, eastern, and central Africa are facing crisis levels of hunger. Our Southern Africa Regional Director, Nellie Nyang'wa, is on the ground:
"We are witnessing millions of already poor people facing extreme food insecurity and exhausting their reserves because of compounding climate shocks that hit already vulnerable communities hardest. They need help urgently."
These countries are at the forefront of the climate emergency. Extreme weather events are devastating communities, and families living in poverty are facing potential annihilation.
Families need our help now. Around the globe, we're providing food and water support for families that need it most, and implementing long-term projects, like building solar-powered desalination plants, so that families are prepared for the next crisis. Even $10 can make a difference for these families.
We need you to be part of our work helping those most affected by extreme weather events and families living in poverty around the world. We've set a goal to raise $3 million by 12/31 – will you join us with a gift of $10?
Here are just a few examples of how your $10 donation can go immediately towards building sustainable, long-term solutions to the injustice of poverty around the world:
- Establishing Saving for Change groups in Central America so that women can pool their resources and create new businesses.
- Teaching farmers in Cambodia how to use blockchain technology to negotiate contracts to get their rice sold.
- Educating parents in Malawi about balanced diets, food hygiene, and community health, to prevent malnutrition.
Thank you so much for your generosity – we couldn't do any of this work without you.
Sincerely,
Ken Mallette
