John,
It has been nearly 200 years, since the creation of the 1835 Treaty of New Echota leading to the expulsion of Cherokee Native Americans from their territory in a mass exodus known as the Trail of Tears.
Over 15,000 Indigenous people died including 4,000 Cherokee.
After 200 years, the Cherokee Nation are renewing the push to their right to send a delegate to Congress to fight for their needs and values.
Our nation made a promise to the Cherokee Nation that a delegate would be granted a Congressional seat to work to expand their democracy and bring solutions to the issues that have been caused by a federal negligence.
We need your support to call on the House of Representatives to seat a Cherokee National delegate. Add your name today and stand with us as we call on our government to fulfill our treaty obligations.

In a recent video message, Cherokee Nation principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. said, "The Treaty of New Echota has no expiration date. The obligation to seat a Cherokee Nation delegate is as binding today as it was in 1835."
While the Cherokee Nation delegate would not be able to vote on the House floor, they would have the power to make compelling speeches and vote in committee, similar to representatives given to the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Northern Mariana Islands.
Please add your name now to call on the House of Representatives to take a key step in rectifying the commitment made to the Cherokee Nation nearly two centuries ago. It's time to seat a Cherokee National delegate.
Thank you for your support,
