...and I’m not the only one who’s noticed.

John –  My opponent recently released a new TV ad, and the claims were so outrageous that one of our local TV stations in Idaho was compelled to set the record straight.

 

Last Tuesday, KTVB did a special report fact-checking Mike Crapo’s claims in the ad. Here are just a few of the messages they received from viewers:

I really appreciate this initiative from our local news leaders. They clearly take their responsibility to inform the public seriously, even when it means standing up to a powerful senator who has been in office for nearly a quarter of a century.

 

Here are the FACTS about the historic and long-needed investments in the IRS that passed with the Inflation Reduction Act:

 

  • The funds allocated for hiring new staff will largely be used to replace current IRS employees – 63% of whom are eligible to retire or resign in the next several years.

  • Contrary to Crapo’s claim, the Pentagon includes all 2.91 million service-members and civilian employees, making the U.S. Department of Defense the largest employer in the world – far outstripping the current 83,000 employees of the IRS.

  • The investments in the IRS are designed and intended to ramp up enforcement on the super rich and giant, multinational corporations who employ teams of accountants and lawyers to get out of paying their fair share of taxes.

 

The simplest fact is this: Mike Crapo has a loose relationship with the truth, and Idaho deserves better. Pitch in now to help me defeat him in November and flip this U.S. Senate seat.

According to the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, 55 giant corporations paid ZERO federal taxes in 2020. Many of these same corporations are driving up inflation around the world by increasing their prices on consumers.

 

That’s a real problem when your senator is heavily funded by corporate cash – like my opponent.

 

I don’t take a dime from corporate PACs, because I believe a senator should work for the PEOPLE.

 

Accountability relies on transparency, and we can’t have transparency with a senator who won’t tell the truth.
