Understanding Bag Limits

During the firearms and muzzleloader hunting seasons, only those hunters possessing an antlerless deer permit may hunt antlerless deer and bucks with antlers less than three inches in length; other hunters are restricted to hunting bucks with antlers three inches or more in length.

Deer harvested during regular archery and crossbow, firearms, and muzzleloader seasons count toward the same annual bag limit.

As of October 23 there are still antlerless deer permits available for purchase in WMDs 22, 23, 24, 25, and 29. If you have not already purchased an antlerless deer permit, you may do so online at mefishwildlife.com/deerpermit [ [link removed] ]

Hunters who were issued a permit through the lottery may purchase a second permit. 

If there are antlerless deer permits remaining after the start of the firearms season, hunters may purchase one additional permit. Hunters will be notified of the opportunity on the MDIFW website in early November.
