When we launched Stand with Parkland, our mission was to ensure that no other families have to experience the pain that we have had to endure.
We could not predict that this work would take us around the nation – from the White House in Washington, D.C. to Chicago, IL and Los Angeles, CA where we promoted a new report from the U.S. Secret Service's National Threat Assessment Center, which will help communities and administrations better spot a troubled person and get them help before an attack occurs.
We could not have predicted the support and encouragement we have received on both sides of the aisle, in every corner of the country.
We were hopeful that our inclusive, nonpartisan, and holistic message regarding school safety would resonate with families the way that it has. And we are grateful for the love and support of people who reached out to us and the elected officials who heard our concerns and acted to push forward solutions.
We have so much more work to do, but with your help, we will build consensus in our communities and across our country regarding the changes we can make today to protect our kids and teachers in schools.
