John,
Today is International Day of Climate Action. To celebrate our planet today, all of us here at Food & Water Action are reaching out to our family and friends about the upcoming election on November 8th. And we’re asking you to do the same.
It’s time for all of us to talk about the future of our planet and democracy. We know that you and most Food & Water Action supporters are voters. And we know that the people closest to you care about what you think. That’s why we all need to encourage the people in our circle to get out and vote!
Here’s what you can do: Talk with three friends about the importance of voting for climate champions in this election, and reply back to this email to let us know how your conversations went.
Congress is currently divided by very narrow margins. If Republicans take back Congress, they will attack any progress we’ve made in the past two years. They’d rather use pollution as a path to profit than protect the health of the people they represent.
That’s why these conversations with our friends are so important. In the upcoming midterm elections, we not only need Democrats to maintain control of Congress – we also need more and better Democrats to build the momentum in the fight for our planet.
Together, we can keep the climate deniers, fossil fuel shills, and corporate authoritarians from taking more seats in Congress. The coming weeks are a critical time to build the people power we need to elect REAL progressive candidates ready to fight against corporate polluters, protect our right to safe drinking water and stop toxic pollution to ensure a livable climate for generations to come.
We’re using our grassroots infrastructure to elect progressive Democrats in battleground Congressional districts, and we need you with us, John.
I hope you’ll join me on International Day of Climate Action by starting conversations with the people you’re closest to about defending our planet in this election.
Thanks for taking action,
Mitch Jones
