A 27-year-old professional triathlete was hit by a van, kidnapped, and tortured last week until she managed to de-escalate a rapidly devolving violent situation and persuade her abductor to let her go.
This lady did everything right. Read her story here:
This directly ties in to the course in Northern Virginia.
Learn about prevention and de-escalation.
Most self-defense courses for women teach you about breaking holds, where to strike an aggressor, and how to fight. And that's important.
But it isn't necessarily the MOST important thing. Your brain is your finest weapon, as you'll see if you read the article above. This mom was incredibly fit, fast, and strong. You'd think that she, if anyone, would be able to physically fight off her abductor. But she was injured after he hit her with a car then bashed her over the head with a stick. Suddenly her strength and fitness were diminished dramatically.
Her abductor expressed his explicit intent to kill her. It was only because she was savvy enough to find a talking point with him and de-escalate the situation that she was able to convince him to let her go.
She didn't panic. She used her head.
Would you be able to do the same?
