Asexuality is an umbrella term, encompassing many people who exist on a spectrum. Asexual people, also known as “ace,” may have little interest in having sex, even though most desire emotionally intimate relationships. Within the ace community, there are many ways for people to identify.

Ace Week is a time to raise awareness, build community, and create change in the world. Together, we say to all young people who identify as asexual: we see you, we celebrate you, and we’ve got you. No matter what.

Remember, love doesn’t equal sex. To learn more about asexuality, many of the identities within it, or how to support an ace young person in your life, explore our Understanding Asexuality Resource here ([link removed]) .

ASEXUALITY ISN’T:
* Abstinence because of a bad relationship or religious reasons
* Celibacy
* Sexual repression, aversion, or dysfunction
* Loss of libido due to age or circumstance
* Fear of intimacy
* Inability to find a partner

ACES MIGHT:
* Want friendship, understanding, and empathy
* Fall in love
* Experience arousal and orgasm
* Choose to, or choose not to, engage in sexual activity
* Be of any gender, age, or background
* Have a spouse and/or children
